this enigmatic Anatolian Oushak rug is almost identical to the one in the Applied Art Museum, Budapest both employe an open red field with complex hooked corners framing a small en suite luzens medallion, as well as wide navy main borders displaying a stylized a cloud band pattern.
The foundation is all wool and the medium coarse wave is done in Turkish( symmetric) knots beside the Budapest example, there is a related piece in the Metropolitan museum of art, New York
our example was unknown until recently and was unpublished. there has been some repiling in the field, but the rest of the rug is quite good for its age
